The Power of Light

Advanced photorejuvenation to target unwanted pigment and redness for a beautifully even complexion.

Treatment Summary

A high level overview of this treatment to help get you acquainted.

Nordlys IPL™ (Intense Pulsed Light) is a photorejuvenation treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to target pigment and vascular irregularities in the skin. It's not a laser, but a high-intensity light source that can be filtered to treat specific concerns.

The light energy is absorbed by melanin (in brown spots) and hemoglobin (in red blood vessels), gently heating and destroying these targets without damaging the surrounding skin. This makes it exceptionally effective for clearing up sun damage, age spots, and the redness associated with rosacea or broken capillaries.

Is Nordlys IPL™ Right For You?

These are some pointers to help you determine if this treatment is right for you.

Nordlys IPL™ is the ideal choice for patients whose primary concerns are related to skin tone and color, rather than texture or wrinkles.

You're a great candidate for IPL if you want to address:

Brown spots, age spots, and sun damage on your face, neck, chest, or hands.
Facial redness and flushing associated with rosacea.
Broken capillaries or small vascular lesions.
A desire for a clearer, brighter, and more uniform skin tone.

Questions? We have answers.

What happens to the brown spots after treatment?
This is the satisfying part. In the days following your treatment, the targeted brown spots will darken, almost like coffee grounds. They will then rise to the surface of the skin and naturally flake off within 1-2 weeks, revealing clearer skin beneath.
Is IPL safe for all skin types?
IPL is safest and most effective for lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick types I-III). Because it targets melanin, there is a risk of causing pigmentation issues in darker skin. We will determine if you are a safe candidate during your consultation.
How many sessions are needed?
For the best possible outcome, we typically recommend a series of 3 to 5 treatments, spaced about a month apart. This allows us to progressively target deeper pigment and vascular concerns for a comprehensive correction.
